The Declaration of Faith

أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ

Ash-hadu an lā ilāha ill-Allāh, wa ash-hadu anna Muḥammadan rasūl-Allāh

“I bear witness that there is no god but Allah,
and I bear witness that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.”

Take Your Shahada Now

Becoming Muslim in Four Steps

01

Know Why You Believe

Understand the core beliefs of Islam — the Oneness of God, prophethood, and the Holy Quran. Take your time. Islam encourages reflection and reason.

02

Be Ready for the Journey

Islam is a complete way of life. The five daily prayers, fasting, charity, and community are part of the path. Readiness means willingness to grow.

03

Ask God for Guidance

Pray sincerely to God for clarity and strength. Muslims believe God guides those who seek Him with a sincere heart.

04

Take Your Shahada

Recite the declaration of faith — with an Imam in person or through our online service. This is the moment of formal acceptance into Islam.

Common Questions

Do I need to be born into a Muslim family?

No. Islam is open to everyone regardless of background, nationality, or family. Millions of Muslims worldwide are converts who came to Islam by their own choice and conviction.

Do I need to change my name?

No. Changing your name is not required. Some people choose an Islamic name as a personal expression of their new identity, but it is entirely optional.

Do I need witnesses to take the Shahada?

The Shahada can be said sincerely in private between you and God. However, many people choose to take it with an Imam or witnesses for the sense of community and support it provides.

What happens after I become Muslim?

You begin learning the five daily prayers, fasting in Ramadan, and growing in your faith at your own pace. The Muslim community — including our local mosque — is here to support your journey.

Can I visit the mosque first without committing?

Absolutely. Our doors are open to everyone. Come for Friday Jumu'ah, request a tour, or reach out with questions. There is no pressure and no expectation.

We're Here In Person Too

If you'd prefer to speak with someone face-to-face, our community in Monroe, WA is ready to welcome you. Visit on any Friday or contact us to arrange a meeting.
